Successor to the pioneering Ceylinco Insurance Co. Ltd, - which at the time the Government monopolized the insurance business in 1964 led the field, with over 80,000 policies – Ceylinco Limited was among 08 private sector companies granted the status of Principal Agent for the newly formed National Insurance Corporation in March 1980.

Being a leading player in the insurance industry in the decade of 1980-90, we held the position of leading Principal Agent of National Insurance Corporation in terms of volume of business generated.

The privatization of the Insurance business in mid-1987, led the formation of Ceylinco Insurance Company Limited, a visionary step intended to bring Ceylinco once more to the position of leader in the field of Insurance in Sri Lanka.
